Donald Schulz
Donald E. Schulz age 55 of York, NE died Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at Stromsburg, NE. He was born December 15, 1950 at York to Melvin E. and Bette D. (Policky) Schulz. Don was baptized in January of 1951 and confirmed in 1964 into the Christian faith at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. He was a 1969 graduate of York High School and attended Fairbury Junior College and Kearney State College. While in high school, Don excelled in basketball, as he still holds the record for most points scored in a game (47 points, 1969). Don was employed by Schulz Floor Service for 23 years. Don enjoyed bowling, golfing, Husker football, and Nascar. He also coached many of his son’s, Josh, basketball and baseball teams. Most of all, Don loved to spend time with his children.
Don is survived by Sue and their children: Sara Marie of Lincoln and Joshua Paul, Shaina Elizabeth, and Jared James all of York. He is survived by his mother and stepfather Bette (Bob) Pohlman of Millikin, CO; sisters and brother: Sharon (Doug) Rybock of Corona, CA; Julie Schroder of Grand Junction, CO; Steve (Debby) Schulz of Mountain View, CA; and Diane (Terry) Richter of Waco, NE. Also left to cherish his memory are many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends Barb, Julie, and Jason.
He was preceded in death by his father, daughter Amber Kay, and grandparents.
Funeral services were held on September 16, 2006 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with the Reverend Tim Marshall officiating. Private family inurnment.
Memorials may be directed towards Don’s children’s educational fund.
