Vada Schmidt

Vada Louise Schmidt age 87 of Omaha, formerly of Thayer, NE, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Omaha. She was born December 17, 1919 in rural Thayer to Herman and Emelie (Bethke) Conell. She graduated from Thayer High School in 1936 and was united in marriage to Erwin H. Schmidt on September 11, 1938 in Thayer. Vada was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer, the Ladies Aid, LWML, and the Thayer Extension Club. She had many interests but especially enjoyed dressing up for parades.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert Schmidt and his wife Karen of Omaha and Allan Schmidt and his wife Brenda of Waco, NE; one daughter Janet and her husband Dick Liggett of Council Bluffs, IA; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Olivia Bolte of McCool Jct., NE, and Garnet and her husband Marion Ackerman of Dakota City, IL; two sisters-in-law, Elfrieda Conell of Glenville, MN and Emma Conell of Waco, NE. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer, NE. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church.
