Reuben E. Schlueter

Reuben E. Schlueter, age 85 of York, died Thursday, March 04, 2004 at York. He was born May 3, 1918 on a farm near York to Ernest and Anna (Wergin) Schlueter. On October 15, 1944 he was married to Florence Staehr at Waco. They lived and farmed in the York and Waco areas until they moved to York in 1998. Reuben was an active lifelong member of St. Johns Lutheran Church of Waco and a member of the Farmers Union.

Survivors include his wife Florence of York; 3 sons, Byron and his wife Diana of York, Royce of Utica and Rodney and his wife Stacey of Waco; 7 grandchildren; Tracey (Glen) Holtzclaw of York, Troy Schlueter of Seward, Todd (Jennie) Schlueter of Lincoln, Lindsay and Mitchell Schlueter both of Utica and Ryan and Ian Schlueter both of Waco; 3 great-grandchildren, Whitney Schlueter of York, Lilly Schlueter of Utica and Micah Schlueter of Lincoln. Also surviving is his sister Ruth Gocke of York and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter Rogene and brother Walter.

Funeral services were held on Monday at 11:00 am at the St. Johns Lutheran Church south of Waco with the Rev. Paul Kern officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
