Sallie Scheve

Sallie M. Scheve age 62 of York, NE, died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Lincoln, NE after a long courageous battle with glucagonoma. She was born November 18, 1945 at Edgar, NE to Paul and Helen (Vap) McLaughlin. Sallie graduated from Edgar High School and then attended the Lincoln School of Commerce. She was united in marriage to William J. Scheve Jr. on February 21, 1970 at Edgar. She enjoyed refinishing antiques with her husband and loved being around her grandchildren as often as she could. Sallie was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, Co-chair of the annual Ice Cream Social at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and filled in as a volunteer secretary at Emmanuel-Faith Lutheran School as well. She was an active member of the Board of Christian Nurture, worked part time with the school’s lunch program and was involved with the annual Cantata program with the church.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Bill of York; daughter Melanie and her husband Chad Springer of Lincoln, NE; two grandchildren Garrett and Sydni Springer of Lincoln. Also surviving are her brothers, Bill (Ruth) McLaughlin and Craig (Kathy Peterson) McLaughlin all of Edgar and Clark (Sue) McLaughlin of Greenwood, AR; sisters, Linda (Donald) Bruns of Sutton, NE, Sharon (Bill) Kenley of Edgar, Gayle (Leonard) Lamb of Lahoma, OK, Janis Buckles of Delphos, KS, Shirley Harms of Hastings, NE; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Dean, one niece and two nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverends Mike Neidow and Tim Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, York. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., Sunday at the mortuary with the family greeting friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday evening. Memorials may be directed to the Emmanuel-Faith Lutheran School in York.
