Darrel Neil Schachenmeyer

Darrel ‘Neil’ Schachenmeyer, age 48, of York, NE, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at York. He was born September 29, 1962 in York to Darrel A. and Janelle (Kuhnel) Schachenmeyer. He graduated from Centennial High School in 1981. He was a lifelong mechanic/service tech and an all around fix it anything man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and most of all spending time with his family.

Neil was united in marriage to Brenda Hinz on June 30, 1993 in Las Vegas, NV. To this marriage two children were born, Cassandra and Kelley. Neil was also a father to Amanda Kaufman (fiancé Chris Escobedo) of Lincoln, daughter of Brenda from a previous marriage. He loved all his girls dearly.

Survivors include his wife and daughters of York; daughter of Lincoln; mother Janelle of Waco, NE; brother Mike of Pueblo, CO; sisters, Sue (Greg) Walmer of Royal, NE and Linda (Craig) Eley of Lincoln, NE; father and mother-in-law Milton and Helen Hinz of York; brothers and sisters-in-law Teresa (Kuhnel) of Benedict, NE, Mike (Deb) Hinz of York, Jolene (Aaron) Campbell of Hampton, NE, and Eric (Laurie) Hinz of Bradshaw, NE. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Neil was preceded in death by his father Darrel Schachenmeyer, his uncle Dennis, grandparents Arthur and Palma Schachenmeyer and Alfred and Ester Kuhnel.

Memorial services were held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 24, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Galen Skinner officiating. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
