Gerald “Jerry” L. Scamehorn

Gerald “Jerry” L. Scamehorn, age 52 of York, died Thursday, March 25, 2004 at York. He was born September 6, 1951 at York to Donald and Phyllis (Carlson) Scamehorn. Jerry was a 1969 graduate of York High School and was a longtime York area commercial plumber. Jerry was married to Carol Smith on February 12, 1993 at York. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of York, the York Elks Lodge #1024, and the York Eagles Aerie #3990. Jerry had served in the Nebraska National Guard and was an avid outdoorsman and loved woodcutting and motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife Carol of Texas; his mother Phyllis Scamehorn of York; brothers Jack (Nancy) & Jay Dee (Sonja) Scamehorn all of York; sisters Jean (Dan) Gibb of York, JoAnn (Bruce) Waring of Evansville, IN and Janet (Glen) Walsh of York. Step-children Randy Smith of North Platte, NE, Rusty Smith of Waco, Rex (Erica) Smith of York and 5 step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a stepson.

Memorial services were held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the Metz Chapel in York with the Rev. Cathy Allen. Inurnment was at the Greenwood Cemetery at York. Memorials may be directed to the family.
