Lorna Sanner

Lorna Mae Sanner, age 84, of York, NE, passed away December 27, 2010 in York, Nebraska. She was born May 13, 1926, near Ong, Nebraska to Irl and Sarah Grone. She graduated from Davenport High School and then began teaching near Plymouth, Nebraska. She married Robert Sanner in 1944. They lived near these Nebraska cities: Plymouth, Diller, Steele City, Davenport, and York. She was a member of East Hill Church of Christ in York and loved the Lord. Her family was incredibly important to her. She volunteered at Blue Valley Community Action in York. She loved going to South Padre Island, Texas, in the winter and volunteering at Sea Turtle, Inc. She enjoyed quilting, and her family received many gifts of quilts from her.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert, of York; five children Dixie (Jim) Busch, Humble,TX; Bob (Diane) Sanner, Grand Island, NE; Kathy (Jim) Anderson, Brentwood, TN, Karen (Rex) Biegert, Shickley, NE; and Patricia (Terry) Quigley, Lubbock, TX.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren: Laura (Chuck) Morris, Savannah, MO; Donna (Jason) Embray, Saint Joseph, MO; Kevin (Trena) Busch, Humble, TX; Jason (April) Busch, Humble, TX; Janda (Steve) McDaniel, Brentwood, TN; Sarah (Sam) Brinson, McKinney, TX; Kasey Anderson, Brentwood, TN; Corey (Kathy) Sanner, York, NE; Carrie (Cory) Smith of Bellevue, NE; Deric (Erin) Lichty, Atlantic Beach, FL; Michael Biegert, Shickley, NE; Nicholas, Andrea, and Landon Quigley, Lubbock, TX.

Also surviving are 21 great-grandchildren: Conrad and Caden Morris; Eli Embray; Eliana Busch; Sierra, Dylan, Madison and Noah Busch; Caitlyn, Annaleise, Jacob and Ethan Sanner; Preston and Jenna Smith; Caleb, Carson, and Kelci McDaniel; Savannah and Scarlett Brinson; and Wyatt and Gradin Lichty.

Also surviving are 2 siblings: Dean (Marjorie) Grone, Steele City, NE and Marilyn Ann (Dee) Swett, Steele City, NE as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; two step-mothers, Blanche Grone and Jan Grone; and two siblings who died in infancy.

Services were held at East Hill Church of Christ in York at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 30, 2010 with Rick Eldred officiating. Graveside services were held at the Davenport Cemetery in Davenport, NE at 3:00 pm. Thursday afternoon. Memorials may be directed toward Mountain States Children’s Home or York College.
