Richard Dean Ryan

Richard Dean Ryan, age 80 of Fairmont, NE, died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Fairmont. He was born August 22, 1929 at Hazard, NE to Leo and Erma (H’lava) Ryan. He was united in marriage to Lori Fruhling on November 1, 1964 at Kearney, NE. Richard worked as a bank examiner for the State of Nebraska. He then was a loan officer at the First National Bank in Hooper, NE until his retirement. He then Richard was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York. He was also a member of the Army National Guard for two years. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, enjoyed gardening, home remodeling and hiking. He also enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Lori of York; daughter, Lisa Reneé (Ed) Bergstraesser III of Lincoln, NE; son Michael Dean (Melissa) Ryan of Lincoln; daughter Amy Jo Ryan of Reno, NV; son James Christopher Ryan of Fremont, NE; four grandchildren, Megan Ryan of Lincoln, Carson Ryan of Lincoln, Alexa Schnase of Reno and Madyson Schnase of Reno. Also surviving is a sister Jean Beckstead of Buena Park, CA. Preceding him in death were his parents and a niece.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York, NE with the Reverend Terry Cosier officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation as it was Richard’s wish to donate his body to science. Memorials may be directed to Fairview Manor in Fairmont, NE.
