Dr. T.H. "Tom" Robson

Dr. H.T. “Tom” Robson, age 83 of York, NE, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Grand Island, NE. He was born April 26, 1926 at Geneva, NE to Palmer and Pauline (Lytle) Robson. He served in the US Navy from July of 1944 until July of 1946. Tom graduated from York College and then received his doctorate from UNL Dental College. He practiced dentistry in York from 1953 until his retirement in 1989. Tom and Ruth Weston were united in marriage on September 2, 1951 at York.

Tom was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York. He was a member of the American Dental and the Nebraska Dental Associations, the York Elk’s Club, York Rotary, York American Legion, the Sons of the American Revolution, and was the past president of the York Jaycees. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Award in 1983 by the Nebraska Dental College Alumni Association. Tom was also a member of the York Lodge #56, Scottish Rite, York Rite, and Sesostris Shrine. In his free time Tom enjoyed photography and genealogy.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Ruth of York; sons, Tom (Pat) Robson of West Des Moines, IA, Jim Robson of Minneapolis, MN, John Robson of Cabot, AR, and Scott (Brenda) Robson of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Eric (Katie) Robson of Lombard, IL, Sara (Dan) Bartlett of St. Paul, MN, Ethan Robson of Cabot, AR, Emily Robson of Cabot, AR, David Robson of Dallas, TX, Meagan Robson of Dallas, TX; two great-grandchildren, Sean Robson and Molly Robson both of Lombard, IL.

Also surviving are a sister, Beverly (Dr. Larry) Perkins of Stillwater, OK; four nephews, Robin Robson and Brian Robson of Council Bluffs, IA, Stephen (Kathy) Perkins of Oklahoma City, OK and Andrew Perkins of Stillwater, OK; and sister-in-law Marolyn Robson of Council Bluffs, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Don Robson and nephew Don B. Robson.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverends Art Phillips and Pat Norris officiating. Burial will follow in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9 pm Sunday and 9-9 Monday at Metz Mortuary in York. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the UNL Dental College or the First United Methodist Church.
