Gertrude Rison

Gertrude “Gertie” Rison, age 76 of York, died Sunday, July 22, 2007 at Omaha, NE. She was born October 26, 1930 in Nemaha County, Nebraska to Fred and Angie (Woods) Vice. Gertie was united in marriage to Raymond Rison on May 30, 1958 at Falls City, NE. She taught school for 18 years in Nemaha and Richardson counties as well as the Omaha area. She also owned and managed Gerties Consignment Store in York for 10 years. Gertie was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in York. She enjoyed bowling and singing and was an excellent seamstress. Her church was very important to her as was her family, especially her granddaughter Lauren.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Raymond of York, son Darrell Rison of San Diego, CA, daughter Deanna (Jeff) Edwards and their daughter Lauren of Omaha, sisters Deloris Georges and Angie Bentzinger of York and brothers Noel (Vera) Vice and Loyd (Bobby) Vice of York. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Floyd and Lester, sisters Gleatha Boyd, Esther Burns, Melva Thomas and infant brother and sister Phyllis and Ellis Vice.

Funeral services were Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at the Metz Chapel, York, NE. Burial was at York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Nebraska Methodist Hospital Foundation.
