Nadine Richert

Nadine Marie Richert, age 86 of York, NE, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at York. She was born January 20, 1922 at Dearing, KS to Augusta “Gussie” Pete and Muriel Effie (Mead) Allen. The family moved to Coffeyville, KS where she received her education. She graduated from Coffeyville Junior College and taught two years in a rural school near Coffeyville. Nadine came to York, upon the advice of her hometown minister, attended and graduated from York College in 1947. She taught school in Strang, NE. On May 30, 1948 she married Herbert Richert in her hometown of Coffeyville. They lived on a farm near Thayer, NE. A son, Donald and a daughter, Julia were born to the couple. Nadine taught school and Herbert farmed. She had been a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near York and Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer. She was currently a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. She enjoyed teaching for 35 years at several schools, including Thayer, Gresham, Waco, and Centennial at Utica. Her favorite hobbies included gardening and bird watching. Herbert and Nadine retired from the farm and moved to their home in York in 1993.

She is survived by her husband Herbert of York; son Donald Richert and his wife Debbie of Waco; daughter Julia and her husband Dr. Charles Boettcher of North Platte, NE. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Jenny (Tim) Higgins and daughter Caraline of Lincoln, NE, Andrew (Jennifer) Richert and children, Alexa and Jaxon of Gillette, WY, Kristen (Shawn) Phillips of Omaha, NE, John (Ali) Boettcher and daughter Emma of Portage, MI, and Mark Boettcher of North Platte, NE and fiancé Ashley Steinbach of Portage, MI. Nadine is also survived by two brothers, Marion (Jeane) Allen of Coffeyville, Robert (Beverly) Allen of Bartlesville, OK; one sister Norma Jean (Robert) Snider of Coweta, OK; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Richert of York, Gertrude Bredehoft of York and Esther (Bob) Ponte of Lincoln; brother-in-law Paul (Kate) Richert of Richmond, IN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers-in-law, Roland Bredehoft and Gerhard Richert.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2008 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverends Tim Marshall and Mike Neidow officiating. Burial followed at St. Paul’s Cemetery, northeast of York. Memorials may be directed to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Missions or the donor’s choice.
