Arnold Richert
Arnold Leland Richert, age 85 of York, NE died Friday, December 12, 2008 at York. He was born March 5, 1923 to Bernhard and Henrietta (Duesing) Richert in York County. He was baptized into the Christian faith on March 11, 1923 and confirmed on May 30, 1937, both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, north of York. Arnold attended St.Paul’s Parochial School and was a 1941 graduate of Benedict High School. On December 10, 1950, he was united in marriage to LaDonna June Gocke at St. John’s Lutheran Church south of Waco, NE.
Arnold had worked for the JP Cunningham Farm, was a herdsman for Cunningham Dairy, a welder at Kroy Industries, and finally retired from Pioneer Hybrid Research. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, where he served as elder, trustee, as well as, serving on several other boards. Arnold enjoyed traveling with his wife, participating with the Fun Club, and playing cards. Most important to him, however, was the time spent and the memories created with his family.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife LaDonna of York; son Ardean (Jo) Richert of York; daughter Karla (Craig) Paro of Grand Island, NE; son Brett (Audrey) Richert of Lincoln, NE; eight grandchildren: Jeremy (Melanie) Richert of Marion, IA, Alicia (Robert) Dirks of Omaha, NE, Cody (Nicole) Paro of Grand Island, Cassie Paro and fiancé Jeremy Uhrich of Grand Island, Kelly Paro of Omaha, and Erinn, Seth, and Mallory Richert of Lincoln; and six great-grandchildren: Xander and Zoe Paro of Grand Island, Keyden and Rylen Uhrich of Grand Island, and Kennan and Emmitt Dirks of Omaha. Also surviving is a brother Delbert Richert of Seward, NE, sister-in-law Yvonne Junge of York, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant grandson Jacque Paul Paro.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverends Tim Marshall and Mike Neidow officiating. Burial will follow in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran School or to the family. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2pm-9pm and Monday 9am-9pm, with family greeting friends and neighbors that evening from 6-8pm.
