Mary Jo Rice

Mary Jo Rice age 54 of Hampton, NE died Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Hampton. She was born October 28, 1953 at Stromsburg, NE to Fay F. and Henrietta (Frazier) Rice and graduated from Bradshaw High School in 1972. She then attained her LPN Degree from St. Mary’s in Kearney, NE and then her RN Degree from Omaha School of Nursing. Mary Jo was formerly employed at the Aurora Hospital as an LPN/RN for several years before joining the staff of Central City Community Care as an RN. She was a member of the Navy Mothers in York, was a longtime caretaker, loved to crochet, needlepoint, bowling and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her sister Dorothy and her husband George Crabtree of Geneva, NE, her brother Francis Rice of Lincoln, NE, her sisters Esther Wessels of York, NE, Lila and her husband James Kearns of Lexington, OH and Glenda and her husband Mark Dahlsten of Lincoln. Many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Monday June 2, 2008 at the Metz Chapel in York with burial in the Exeter Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
