Robert Rhodes

The Journey of life has reached the end of the final chapter for Robert Clair Rhodes, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for many years. He has gone to be with the Lord, Savior, and those who went before him: his parents, his brothers Dean and Lloyd Rhodes, sisters Leona and Esther Rhodes and his beloved wife Winifred Rhodes. Robert, age 80 of McCool Junction, NE, died July 24, 2012 at Henderson, NE. He was born May 3, 1932 to Ira Blaine and Freda (Stutzman) Rhodes in Benshoff Hill, Johnstown, PA. On July 14, 1951, he was united in marriage to Winifred E. McMillian in Phoenix, AZ. Robert had served in the Army from 1952-1954 in the Korean War. He was a Data Analyst for Garrett-Airesearch Aerospace Corp.

His family and many friends whose heart he’s touched along life’s journey will miss him. His family includes his son Robert Bruce (Diane) Rhodes of Manhattan, Montana and daughter Lynne M. Ketcham and son-in-law Gerald Simcoe of McCool Junction, NE; his eight grandchildren: Robert L. Rhodes, Samantha (Ray) Mitchell, Michael (Kim) Rhodes all of McCrory, Arkansas, Sgt. Geoffrey (Dali) Ketcham of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Nickolas (Erica) Ketcham of York, NE, Amanda Simcoe of Auburn, NE, Aaron Rhodes McRay of Greenville, TN, and Ethan Rhodes McRay of Queen Creek, Arizona; and twelve great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers Roger (Cookie) Rhodes of Elysburg, PA and Ronald (Pat) Rhodes of Levittown, PA; sister June Pringle of Glendale, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss their “Uncle Buzzer,” in-laws and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM, Saturday July 28, 2012 at Metz Chapel with Aaron Phillips officiating. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery, York. Memorials may be directed to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
