Herman Quiring

Herman Edward Quiring age 86 of Henderson, NE died Friday, June 27, 2008 at Henderson. He was born June 20, 1922 on a farm in Hamilton County, NE to John C. and Lena (Penner) Quiring and was a lifelong member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church. Herman was a longtime York and Hamilton County farmer where he specialized in corn shelling and custom hay swathing and bailing. He also enjoyed selling Cargill Seed corn as a dealer as well. Herman enjoyed restoring old tractors both John Deere and Minneapolis Molines. On February 23, 1945 he was married to Norma Friesen. After her death he was married to Inez Reetz at Staplehurst, NE on April 17, 1977.

He is survived by his sons Charles and his wife Cindy Quiring and Dale and his wife Barb Reetz all of Henderson, Keith and his wife Jennifer Reetz of Alta, IA and Lynn and his wife Kimm Reetz of Lincoln. His daughter Shirley and her husband Larry Thayer of Osmond, NE. His grandchildren include: Matthew and his wife Valorie Quiring of Bradshaw, Ryan Quiring of Kearney, Jonathan and his wife Kelly Reetz of Indianola, IA, Christa and her husband Paul McSorley of Sidney, IA, Heather Thayer of Lincoln, Kirk Reetz and his fiancé Heidi Shaffer of Alta, IA, Victor and Tyler Reetz of Alta, IA, Victoria Reetz and her fiancé’ Andrew Brininstool of Lincoln, Jameson, Benjamin and Julianna Reetz all of Lincoln; Great Grandchildren; Danny, Colton, Ty, Dakota and Riley. Also surviving is his brother Louis Quiring of Hampton, NE, sisters, Sophia Buller of Henderson, Elda and Marvin Peters of Henderson and Thelma and David Veleba of York. His brothers in law include Arnold Steinmeyer of Rosalie, NE, Louis Heineman of West Point, NE and Robert and Kathy Steinmeyer of Wisner, NE and a sisters in law Helen and Arlen Lierman of Beemer, NE, Pauline Friesen of Lincoln and Vivian Friesen of Freeman, S.D. Preceding him in death were his parents, both wives, two brothers, a sister and a son in law.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with the Reverend Weldon Martens officiating. Burial will be in the Bethesda Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Bethesda Broadcast Radio Fund or to the family for later designation. Visitation begins after 1:00 pm Sunday with the family greeting friends Monday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 pm at the mortuary.
