Glenn Porath

Glenn A. Porath, age 73, of York, NE, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Lincoln, NE. He was born August 3, 1938 at Valentine, NE to Arnold and Eleanor (Detgen) Porath. Following high school, Glenn joined the U.S. Navy. On September 11, 1960 he was united in marriage to Lois Staudacher at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Kinde, MI. Glenn attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He later obtained his Professional Engineering License. Glenn worked at NPPD for 35 years, where he retired as the Telecommunications Manager. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, was active in Jaycees, JCI Senate, Toastmasters, Kiwanis, and local tennis leagues.

Survivors include his wife Lois of York; four children: Mark (Kelly) Porath of Malcolm, NE, Scott (Catherine) Porath of Eagle, NE, Cheryl Huckeba of Lincoln, and Matthew Porath of Lincoln.

Grandchildren include: Zachary and Allyson Porath of Malcolm, Elizabeth (Jameson) Hofker of Lincoln, Laura and Abbigail Porath of Eagle, and Quientin and Ethan Huckeba of Lincoln.

Glenn is also survived by his brother Duane (Carolyn) Porath of Valentine, NE; sister, Karen (Bill) Potter of Valentine; aunt, Hazel Steingrube-Reed of Redwood City, CA; brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Mike Neidow officiating. Burial was in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or to Parkinson’s Research.
