Dale Pohl
Dale Roland Pohl, age 79 of York, Nebraska, died Sunday, September 5, 2010 at his home. He was born May 14, 1931 at the family farm near Gresham, NE to Theodore William and Leonora Augusta (Kohtz) Pohl. He was baptized and later confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Thayer, where he was a lifelong member. Dale graduated from Thayer High School in 1951. On August 11, 1957, he was united in marriage to Sharon Faith Lewis in Utica, NE.
Dale was a lifelong farmer near Thayer and Gresham. Dale and his wife Sharon retired to York in 2001. During his retirement, Dale worked for the Bradshaw Cooperative. He enjoyed fishing, local public auctions, going to coffee, and playing pitch.
Dale is survived by his wife Sharon of York; children: Scott (Nancy) Pohl of Crete, NE, Kim (David) Ochsner of Geneva, NE, and Jay (Beverly) of Hartselle, Alabama; and grandchildren: Becky (Joel) Kaelin of Dewitt, NE, Casey Pohl of Geneva, Caroline Ochsner and Christine Ochsner of Geneva, Derek Pohl of Crete, Jacob Pohl and Joshua Pohl of Hartselle, AL. Also surviving are brothers Norman (Barbara) Pohl of Eden, Idaho and Wilfred (Norma) Pohl of York; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Joel, infant great granddaughter Gracie Kaelin, and siblings Letha Jorgenson and Raymond Pohl.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Lee Seetin officiating. Interment followed at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Thayer. Memorials may be directed to Asera-Care Hospice Foundation, Relay for Life of York County, York, NE, or Zion Lutheran Church, Thayer, NE.
