Helen Pogue
Helen Pogue, age 78, of Stromsburg, NE, died Thursday, March 4, 2004 at Johnson City, TN. A native of St. Edward, NE, she was the daughter of the late Roy Clark Force and Maggie May Case Force. Mrs. Pogue was a member of the East Hill Church of Christ, York, NE. She was a former employee of the Stromsburg Headlight newspaper and City of Stromsburg. Mrs. Pogue’s real joy in life was loving her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, gardening, baking, bird watching, and cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Bill Barnett of Lincoln, NE and Peggy and Dennis Vonderfecht of Jonesborough, TN; a son and his wife, Jim and Luana Pogue of Stromsburg; a sister and her husband, Mary and Jerry McKay of Bellevue, NE; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Duane and Ginny Force of Portland, OR, Harold and Grace Force of Columbus, NE and Eldon Force of Venice, FL; three grandsons and their wives, Alan and Janet Pogue of Olathe, KS, Dennis and Tonya Pogue of Papillion, NE, and Matt Pogue of Stromsburg; four granddaughters, Amy Munro of Las Vegas, NV, Angela Ferryman and her husband Dave of Naperville, IL, Jenny Vonderfecht of Nashville, TN and Kristen Vonderfecht of Knoxville, TN; eight grand-children, Briana, Brennan, and Bradyn Pogue of Olathe, KS, Hannah, Sarah, and Emily Pogue of Papillion, NE, and Carter and Braeden Ferryman of Naperville, IL; and special friends, Doris Cleland, the Mike Branting family, Susie Parkerson, and Jan Glover.
The funeral service for Helen Pogue who died Thursday will be conducted at 9:30 AM, Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at East Hill Church of Christ, York, NE, with Mr. Bruce Goodwin officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Monday, March 8th at Metz Mortuary, York, NE. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2:30 PM, Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery, St. Edward, NE.
Active pallbearers will be Alan Pogue, Dennis Pogue, Matt Pogue, Dave Ferryman, Dennis Vonderfecht, Bill Barnett, Jerry McKay, and Mike Branting. Honorary pallbearers will be Staff at Broadmore Assisted Living, Johnson City, TN, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those who plan to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery Tuesday at 2:20 PM.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Mountain States Foundation Children’s Hospital or Circle of Hope (support fund for cancer patients); 1021 W. Oakland Ave., Suite 103, Johnson City, TN 37604.
