Ruth Pettygrove

Ruth E. Pettygrove age 98 of York, NE died Tuesday, march 27, 2007 at York. She was born December 18, 1908 at Winside, NE to the Reverend Albert W. and Clara (Galloway) Ahrendts. Ruth graduated from Bertrand High School in 1926 and then graduated from the Lincoln School of Commerce. Ruth was a longtime York area bookkeeper and receptionist having been employed at the First United Methodist Church, Dr. Harold Rosenau’s Dental Clinic, Paul's TV and for York Motors all in York. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York, Order of the Eastern Star and had been active in the Boy Scouts as a Den mother. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and playing the piano. On October 2, 1929 she was married to George F. Pettygrove at Phillipsburg, KS.

She is survived by two sons; Jim and his wife Ardie Pettygrove of Topeka, KS and Steve and his wife Linda Pettygrove of York. 6 Grandchildren; Lynne and her husband Sam Bauer of Colorado Springs, Co, Kim Fisher of Encinitas, CA, Todd and his wife Barb Pettygrove of Topeka, KS, Kent and his wife Kelly Pettygrove of Waco, Rex and His wife Cindy Pettygrove of McCool Jct, Kay and her husband Dan Wallerich of Mankato, MN. She is also survived by 9 Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery at York. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church in York or to the donor’s choice.
