Lenora Peters

Lenora (Friesen) Peters, age 98, of Henderson, NE died Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Henderson Care Center where she had resided for the past three years. She was born July 6, 1912 in Henderson to George A. and Katherina (Friesen) Friesen. Lenora married Arnold G. Peters on October 6, 1935. They farmed in York and Hamilton Counties until their retirement to Henderson in December of 1973. They had six children, Wayne, Adeline, Arlyce, Maylon, Lowell, and Homer. Lenora was a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church where she had been active as a Sunday School teacher and in Mission Circle. Her favorite pastime was crocheting and she made many tablecloths and doilies which she gave away.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jennie (Albert) Kliewer, Adeline (John H.) Huebert, Arlyce (Myron) Friesen all of Henderson, Maylon (Judy) Peters of Montrose, CO, Lowell (Iris) Peters of Aurora, NE, and Homer (Ruth) Peters of Henderson. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law, Olga Peters and Edna Friesen. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son Wayne, son-in-law Virgil Erb, grandson Lynn Huebert, three sisters, Elsie Friesen, Carolyn Beatty, LaVina Mierau, and two brothers, Richard Friesen and Levi E. Friesen.

Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Bethesda Cemetery in Henderson, followed by memorial services at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethesda Mennonite Church. Memorials may be directed to the Bethesda Radio Ministry.
