Helen Peters

Helen Peters age 96 of Henderson, died December 22, 2007 at Henderson. She was born May 20, 1911 at Henderson to John B. and Margaretha (Wieler) Friesen. Helen received her education at Rural District 31 near Henderson. She was united in marriage to Aaron J. Peters on September 30, 1930 at Henderson. They farmed in the Henderson area until their retirement in 1964. Helen worked at the Henderson nursing Home as a nurse’s aid for 17 years and enjoyed taking care of the residents. She began scrapbooking in the 50’s and faithfully cut out articles from the Henderson and York newspapers for her scrapbooks.. She was a member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson and Circle I.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Elvina (Ted) Janzen of Henderson, Elvera Suderman of Newton KS, and Stanley (Cindy) Peters of St. John, IN. Surviving grandchildren are Bonnie (Lee) McCullough of Waddell, AZ, Jim (Carol) Janzen of York, NE, Sharon (Mark) Watkins, Basking Ridge, NJ, Mark (Shelley) Janzen of Aurora, NE, Janet (Dave) Puzycki of Stevensville, MI, Sandra (Jon) Enns of Merrian, KS and Mike (Chris) Peters of Nixa, MO. Surviving great-grandchildren are Isaac and Ira McCullough, Justin (Jenna) Watkins, Luke, Clint and Tyler Watkins, Joshua and Jacob Janzen, Joseph, Sarah and Benjamin Puzycki, Traci, Katie, Spencer and Micheal Peters. Sister-in-law Sally Fleming of Hesston, KS. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son-in-law Charles Suderman, brothers and sisters Margaret Smith, Anna Duerksen, Ben G. Friesen, John G. Friesen and sister-in-law Helena Ott.

Graveside services were at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2007 at the Bethesda Cemetery at Henderson. Memorial services followed at 2:30 p.m. at the Henderson Nursing Home Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Mennonite Biblical Seminary, the Bethesda Radio Broadcast or Tabitha Hospice Care.
