Bertha Peters
Bertha Rose Peters, age 83 of Henderson, NE, died Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Aurora, NE. She was born August 13, 1925, in York County, NE to John A. and Nettie (Siemens) Regier. Bertha was united in marriage to Carl D. Peters on February 21, 1946 at Henderson. She worked for 30 years at the Henderson Hospital as a cook and CNA. Bertha was an active member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson where she belonged to Mission Circle I, and had previously served as Sunday School Superintendent and Bible School teacher. She was also a member of the Friendship Circle Club. Bertha always welcomed friends and family to her home and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will be missed by everyone she leaves behind.
Left to cherish Bertha’s memory is her husband Carl of Henderson; son Joe and wife Lillian Peters of North Newton, KS; daughter Linda and husband Daryl Heisey of Rexville, New York; Grandchildren include: Tammi DeMers and her children Jared, Payton, Andrew, and Caleb of York; Luke Peters, his wife Chasie, and their children August and Ellery of Aurora, NE; Shalane and her husband Tim Cohen of Harrisburg, PA; Drew, Daniel, and Daedre Heisey all of Rexville, NY; step-grandchildren, Michelle Jantz of Washington, DC and Jason Jantz, his wife Kate, and their children Isabelle and Daniel of Wichita, KS. Also surviving is a sister Pansy Janzen of Henderson, sister-in-law Martha Hiebner of Henderson , nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother Lester; brother James Regier and his wife Evelyn; sister, Irene and her husband Arnold Friesen; brothers-in-law Frank Janzen and Irvin Hiebner.
Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Bethesda Cemetery, Henderson, NE. Memorial services followed at 11:00 a.m., at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson with the Reverends Weldon Martins and Jim Voth officiating.
