Catherine Pearson

Catherine Anne Pearson, age 56 of York, NE died Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in York. She was born March 5, 1955 to William and Janet (Monticone) Irwin at Cheyenne, Wyoming. Cathy grew up on numerous Air Force bases in the United States, England, and Guam. She graduated from Rivier College, with a BA in Psychology, in Nashua, New Hampshire. On June 19, 1976, she was united in marriage to Mark Pearson in Hudson, New Hampshire. As a military wife, they lived in San Diego, CA, Washington, and Hawaii. Post military they lived in Searcy, Arkansas, Little Rock, Arkansas, and many locations on the East Coast (while Mark finished his studies and work). They then moved to Haiti, where they served as medical missionaries and preacher’s training. Finally, they settled to York in 2006, where Mark became part of the York College faculty and Cathy worked as a para-educator at York High School. Cathy was a member of East Hill Church of Christ.

Cathy is survived by her husband Dr. Mark Pearson of York; children: Cpt. Daniel Pearson of Colorado Springs, CO, Erin (Russ) Arnold and their children Acacia and Jeremiah of Nashville, TN, and Kathleen Pearson and her daughter Eliyah of York; mother Janet Irwin of Hudson, NH, siblings: Kevin (Lori) Irwin of Hudson, NH, Lt. Col. Karen (Col. Paul) Nigara (retired) of Jacksonville, FL, Cheryl Irwin (Kirk Winkler) of London, England, and Sheila Irwin (Tom Migliatcio) of Clayton, North Carolina; grandparents George and Dorothy Monticone of Concord, NH; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins. She was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at East Hill Church of Christ in York. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery, York. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
