Amanda Peak
Amanda B. Peak, age 97, of York, died Monday, February 11, 2008 at York. Amanda was born June 28, 1910 at Eustis, NE to J. G. and Amelia (Rieker) Gaibler. She was a 1928 graduate of Eustis High School and attended the University of Nebraska. On June 28, 1933, she was married to Stanley C. Peak at Holdrege, NE and they had two daughters, Mary Ann and Donna Kay. Amanda worked as librarian at the Cordelia B. Preston Memorial Library in Orleans for 25 years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, P.E.O. and was a Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by her daughter Donna and husband Darroll Loschen of York; niece Ruth Ann (Neal) Sandell of Polk, grandchildren, David (Lori) Loschen and Deborah Loschen, Ted Gutshall, Andrew Gutshall; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nicholas and Amanda Loschen; brother, Walter Gaibler; her sister Leona Cline, sisters-in-law, Martha and Idella Gaibler. Preceding her in death were her husband Stanley, daughter Mary Ann (Robert) Gutshall, one brother and three sisters.
Amanda was buried in the Kearney Cemetery at Kearney, NE on Friday, February 15, 2008 at 3:00 pm. Memorial services were held at the York Presbyterian Church on Saturday at 11:00 am with the Rev. Mike Eickhoff officiating. Memorials may be directed The York Community Foundation.
