Arthur Parpart
Arthur C. Parpart, age 96 of York, died Saturday, June 9, 2007 at York General Hospital. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Faith Lutheran Church in York. Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Hampton, NE.
Arthur C. Parpart, son of Henry & Alma (Hankel) Parpart was born May 12, 1911, near Hampton, in Hamilton County. He was baptized on June 11, 1911, at Zion Lutheran Church near Hampton and so was made a member of the Kingdom of God’s grace. He was confirmed on May 24, 1925 at Zion Lutheran Church. On March 7, 1937 he was united in holy matrimony to Emma Kohtz at Zion Lutheran Church. He became a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in York in 1967 serving on several boards and committees.
He was a long time contractor, building many homes in Fort Dodge, Iowa from 1940-1959. He was a member of the Associated General Contractors of Fort Dodge, Fort Dodge Homebuilders, and President of the Home Builders Association. During World War II he was Installation Superintendent for Horn Manufacturing. Installing airplane hanger doors. He moved to San Diego, CA in 1959, was owner and operator of Uptown Travelodge Motel, also working in General Contracting. He moved back to York in 1967, owned and operated York Cabinet Shop, building many homes in York. He and his wife were members of the Holiday Rambler and Good Sam Trailer Clubs for many years. He retired in 1987.
Survivors include five nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Emma in January of 1997, one brother Raymond, and one sister Selma Woolley. Memorials may be left to Faith Lutheran Church, York, NE.
