Lavilda Parks

Lavilda R. Parks age 98 formerly of York, NE died Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Yuma, CO. She was born August 31, 1909 near Gresham, NE to William and Sophie (Hegeholz) Richters. Lavilda was a retired elementary school teacher having taught for over 40 years with 16 of them at the Lincoln School here in York. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, the LWML, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Retired Teachers Association of York County. On June 9, 1940 she was married to H. Keith Parks at Gresham.

She is survived by one son Tom Parks of Yuma, CO and a daughter Kae Huggins of Durham, N.C. Five grandchildren: Virginia and her husband Colin Parks-Warren, Keith Parks, Sarah Beth Parks, Darin Huggins and Megan Huggins. Also surviving is a great grandson Ian Thomas Parks and a sister-in-law Jean L. Parks of Norfolk, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Jerry Huggins, a brother Elmer Richters and a sister Sylvia Peterson.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 12, 2007 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, NE with the Reverend Tim Marshall officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in York with memorials being directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church or to the donor’s favorite charity.
