Pauline Opfer
Pauline Opfer age 90 of York, NE died Monday, April 16, 2007 at Utica, NE. She was born April 5, 1917 at rural Bradshaw, NE to Harry and Pearl (Scamehorn) Dorsey. She was baptized when she was 6years old at the Shilo church at Bradshaw and attended school at Benedict and York. Pauline was united in marriage to Walter R. Opfer on March 10, 1936 at Zion Lutheran Church at Hampton, NE where they farmed for many years.
Three children were born to this union, son Wayne, and daughters Joe Anne and Cloe Anne. Pauline and Walt lived in the Hampton area until 1957 and then moved to York where they became members of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Yorktown Navy Mothers where she helped make toys for sick children.
Pauline enjoyed playing cards, bowling, sewing and crocheting. She loved being around her family and friends.
Pauline is survived by two daughters Joe Anne Staehr and Cloe Anne Staehr both of York; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren and one step grandson. Also surviving is one brother Loyal Dorsey and his wife Margaret of Westminster, CO and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; son Wayne; one grandchild, Mark Staehr; three step grandchildren, five brothers, Raymond, Grant, Darrel, Bill and Harry; three sisters, Clara Dahlgren, Maudie Thorne and Jesse Friesen and two sons-in-law Dennis Staehr and Ronald Staehr.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Tim Marshall officiating. Burial followed at York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice or to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York.
