Janet Olson

Janet Jean Olson age 75 of York, NE, died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at York. She was born March 11, 1934 in Chase County, NE to Lyle A. and Eva “Marita” (Moody) Robertson. Janet graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1955 with a media degree and was the media specialist at Fairmont Public Schools for a number of years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in York where she was an elder and deacon. Janet was the past president of the PEO Chapter HH and a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She enjoyed genealogy, collecting antiques, especially Victorian glassware, spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She was a true Husker fan and enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends. Janet was united in marriage to Dale A. Olson on June 19, 1955 at Imperial, NE.

She is survived by her husband Dale of York; son, Gary and his wife Carol of Papillion, NE; daughter, Karen and her husband Tim Kayton of Albion, NE; grandchildren, Drew, Riley, and Holly Olson all of Papillion, NE, Christopher Kayton of Omaha, NE, Nicholas and Kallie Katyon of Albion, NE. Also surviving are many cousins and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents and her son David.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in York, NE with the Reverend Mike Eickhoff officiating. Burial will follow in York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-9 pm, Tuesday and 9am-9pm Wednesday at the mortuary with the family receiving friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, the Presbyterian Memorial Foundation or the donor’s choice.
