Vernon L. Olson

Vernon L. Olson, age 72 of York, died Monday, August 11, 2003, at York. He was born to Edwin & Fern (MacDonald) Olson on March 9, 1931 at Herman, NE. He grew up in the Hooper & Craig area and helped his dad and brother farm. He graduated from Hooper High School in 1948. On September 24, 1950, he was married to Norma Lueninghoener at Fremont. They lived on a farm in the Craig area, then Lyons, Fremont, Exeter and to York in 1993. Vernon drove truck for several years and was a carpenter in Exeter.

He is survived by his wife Norma of York, four children; 3 sons and daughters-in-law; Michael & Sharon Olson of McCool Junction, Kevin & Carol Olson of Dorchester and Keith & Michelle Olson of Friend; his daughter Cheryl Jappert & John Bullard of Lincoln. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Jerod (Sara) Olson of Seward, Cole Olson of Dorchester, Amy & Sarah Jappert of Lincoln and a step-granddaughter Abbey Schluter of Friend. Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter Diane and brother Fred.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 14, 2003 at the Metz Chapel in York with the Rev. Greg Hall. Burial was at the Greenwood Cemetery in York.
