Irna Obermier
Irna L. Obermier age 92 of Grand Island, NE formerly of Waco, NE died Friday, September 14, 2007 at Grand Island.
She was born June 25, 1915 in rural Utica, NE to George and Emma (Tonniges) Fehlhafer and was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Waco and the Ladies Aid as well.
She was also a member of the Waco Happy Homemakers club and enjoyed playing pitch and pinochle. She loved watching Cubs baseball and crocheting. Irna and her husband were enshrined into the York County Agricultural Hall of Fame for their progressive farming techniques.
On August 29, 1936 she was married to Norman W. Obermier at Gresham.
She is survived by two sons Duane and his wife Bonnie Obermier of Lincoln and Mike and his wife Karen Harris of Littleton, CO; one daughter Lorraine and her husband Don Kohtz of Grand Island;
15 Grandchildren;
27 Great Grandchildren; and
1 Great Great Grandchild.
Also surviving is her twin sister Irma and her husband Richard Bristol of Aurora and a daughter in law Kathryn Obermier also of Aurora.
Many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband two sons Ronald and John and two sisters Emma Connel and Selma Obermier.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at St John’s Lutheran Church south of Waco with the Reverend Paul T. Kern officiating. Burial was in St John’s Cemetery with memorials being directed to St John’s Building Fund or to the NSEA Children’s Fund.
