Daryl E. Nyberg, age 68, of York, NE, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 in York. He was born February 12, 1942 in Central City, NE to Edwin and Elna (Stranberg) Nyberg. He grew up in Polk, NE and in 1956, during his sophomore year of high school, he and his family moved to Holdrege, NE. Daryl and DeLane Burgeson were united in marriage on July 22, 1962 in Wilcox, NE.

Daryl worked in Co-op management in several Nebraska co-ops and retired from the McCool Jct. Farmers Co-op in 2007 after 45 years. Following his retirement, he worked at York General Hospital in the Pulmonary Department as a delivery driver. He enjoyed this job immensely and made many special friends. Daryl was a member of the Arbor Drive Community Church in York where he served as a trustee. He loved music and sang in quartets and groups. Daryl always had projects he was working on at home. He was very gifted and creative with tools. He also enjoyed the outdoors, especially working in his yard. Daryl and DeLane loved hiking and spending time in the mountains of Colorado. Family was important to Daryl and he enjoyed get-togethers with his children and grandchildren. His black lab, Bess, was a beloved member of the family also. One of Darylís most wonderful and treasured gifts was a kidney transplant eight years ago at the Nebraska Medical Center from a live donor, Jerie Quinty.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife DeLane of York, NE; two children, Jeff (Trisha) Nyberg of Olathe, KS, and Carla (Todd) Wilson of Lincoln, NE; eight grandchildren, Colton, Josh, Amber, Kara, Jacob, Shali, Brandon, and Cassi; and one great-grandchild, Amaya. Also surviving is his mother, Elna Nyberg of Holdrege, NE; one sister, Ardell (Pastor Ron) Day of Land OíLake, FL; two brothers, Larry (Julie) Nyberg of Loomis, NE, and Bob (Carrie) Nyberg of Seward, NE; sisters-in-law, Coleene (Virgil) Gellermann of Columbus, NE and Vicki Burgeson of York; and many special cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Preceding him in death were his father, brother Dennis, and great-grandson Aiden.

Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the Arbor Drive Community Church. Private graveside services were at Yorkís Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, York Adopt-A-Pet, the Arbor Drive Community Church or the Nebraska Medical Centerís Kidney Transplant Program.
