Dick Nolan
Dick O. Nolan, age 77, of York, NE, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Seward, NE. He was born September 1, 1933 at Lushton, NE to Richard and Mary (Schallenberg) Nolan. Following graduation from York High School, Dick served in the US Army and served in Korean Conflict from 1953-1955. He was married to Katherine Rice on August 10, 1963 at York. Dick was a truck driver and worked for Jacobsen’s Transfer at Fairmont, NE, Speedway Transportation at Holdrege, NE, the Real Cattle Co. at McCool Jct., NE, and C-Tech at York. He was a member of the York American Legion and enjoyed gardening, walking after coffee, and attending garage sales. He was a huge John Wayne fan as well as a wrestling fan.
Survivors include his wife Katherine of York, two sons, Richard Nolan and John (Betty) Nolan of Lincoln, NE; two daughters, Ronda Nolan of York and Cheryl (Scott) Stearns of Carleton, NE; four grandchildren, Sarah Stearns of Walnut MS, Britney Stearns and Carey Stearns of Carleton, NE, and Chelsea Nolan of Jumpertown, MS. Also surviving is one great-grandson Ethan Dodson of Walnut, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Florence Young and Gladys Witte.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Metz Chapel in York. Burial will be held at a later date in York’s Greenwood Cemetery.
