Ruth Nettleton
Ruth Yaquina (Kirkpatrick) Nettleton, age 101, of York, NE died May 7, 2007 at her home in York.
She was born June 26, 1905 in Newport, Oregon to Mervin and Alice (Gibbons) Kirkpatrick. She was a graduate of York High School and Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA. She married Russell Smith Nettleton on August 27, 1930 at York. After their four children were grown, she taught for several years at York High School.
As a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 92 years, she served as an elder, Sunday school teacher and member of the Presbyterian Women. She belonged to Chapter A, PEO; the York County Historical Society, the Green Thumb Garden Club, Retired Teachers and the W.C.T.U.
Survivors include four daughters: Naomi and her husband Robert Getty of North Platte, NE; Ruth and her husband David Wetmore of Brevard, NC; Mary Nettleton of New York City and York, NE and Margaret and her husband Raymond Rogers of Senatobia, MS; four grandsons, two granddaughters, seven great grandsons and one great granddaughter. She also leaves nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters: Lois Taylor, Agnes Blythe and Julia Franklin; and two brothers: Clinton and Burt.
Memorial services were held Saturday, May 12, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church in York. Inurnment was at York's Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Memorial Foundation of the First Presbyterian Church in York or to the donor’s favorite charity.
