Edwin E. Nelson, age 62, of Lincoln, NE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2014 in Lincoln. He was born March 21, 1952 in York to Marvin and Vernice (Senff) Nelson. Following high school, Ed served in the US Navy FBM submarine service as a sonar technician from 1970 until 1977. He married Marilyn Jenkins in York on December 16, 1972. They were blessed with three daughters, Jeena, Amanda, and Kaylee. Ed was an entrepreneur and was involved in many different business ventures, including a pet store and a computer shop. Most recently, he was turning his interest in photography and videography into a profession. Ed used his passion and skills with photography to assist several civil liberty groups. He will be remembered for his intelligence, analytical ability, generosity, and quirky sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Lincoln; daughters, Jeena (David Habeck) Nelson of Boca Raton, FL, Amanda (Joshua) Bush of Greenwood, and Kaylee Nelson of Lincoln; grandchildren, Fredric and Irina Bush of Greenwood; brothers, Tim (Karen) Nelson of Plattsmouth, Eric (Laura) Sweeney of Phillips; sister-in-law, Gusti Ayu Sri Purwani of Ubud, Bali, Indonesia; step-sister, Lisa (Emmet) Barta of Hastings; numerous other relatives and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his mother, brother Craig, step-mother Gweneth and father.
Memorial services were held on Friday, August 22, at New Visions Community United Methodist, Calvary site, 11th &
Garfield, in Lincoln at 10:00 a.m. A second service was held in York on Saturday, August 23, at First Lutheran Church,
14th & Delaware, also at 10:00 a.m., with burial of his ashes in Council Cemetery, near York following the service.
