Alma Nelson

Alma Elizabeth Nelson age 98 of York, NE died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at York. She was born March 5, 1910 on the family farm near Utica, NE to Fred and Augusta (Zielke) Nelson. Alma was formerly a housekeeper having worked at Weeping Water, NE and then at Straw Acres at Lincoln for many years. She then returned home to take care of her parents for more than 20 years. Alma gave her life to God in 1937. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and making quilts for her family.

She is survived by her sister Florence Hoover of Omaha, a brother Walter and his wife Verona Nelson of New York Mills, MN, Sisters in laws; Millin and Meegee Nelson of Puerto Rico, Hazel Nelson Heinke of Tallmadge, NE, Nephews; Clinton and his wife Nettie Nordhausen and Errold and his wife Patty Nordhausen of Western Nebraska, Dean and his wife Vella Harrison of Cordova, NE, Jerry and his wife Kathren Nelson of Minnesota, Dennis Hoover of Omaha, Harlen and his wife Sandi Nelson of Ulysses, NE. Glen and his wife Peggy Hoover of Omaha, Nieces include Nancy and her husband Wayne Burge, Lana and her husband Paul Vlasin of Western, NE, Jeannie and husband Genoch, Judy and her husband Fisher, Jolene and her husband Monty Goesen, Julene and her husband Paul Reichling all of Minnesota, Ilene and her husband Kenneth Miller of Ulysses, NE. She was preceded in death by parents, two brothers Wilbur and Rallph Nelson and four sisters, Ada Nordhausen, Elsie Harrison, Mabel Nelson and Nora Nelson and one nephew Clarence Nelson.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Metz Chapel in York. Burial was in the Utica Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
