Verdena Myers

Verdena Rhe Myers age 85 of York, NE died Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Lincoln, NE. She was born January 5, 1924 in rural Bradshaw, NE to Ralph D. and Millie M (Stark) Stouffer. Verdena worked at various places around York including Deluxe Cleaners for 8 years, the Egg Plant, A&W Drive Inn, Epworth Village, York Legion Club and the I.O.O.F. Home. Verdena was a longtime member of the East Avenue United Methodist Church in York after its closing she joined the First United Methodist Church in York She was also active in the Harmony Ladies Aide, 3L Extension Club, Navy Mothers Club and Hope Circle of the East Ave Methodist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting, sewing and cooking for her family. On March 10, 1942 she was married to James G. Myers at her parent’s home at Benedict, NE.

She is survived by her sons Jerry and his wife Joan Myers of San Diego, CA and Kenneth and his wife Linda Myers of Beatrice, NE; 7 Grandchildren; and 17 Great Grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Marjorie Overmueller of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Merle, granddaughter Mindy Sue Baehr and her grandson Edward.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in York with the Reverend Art Phillips officiating with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery northwest of Benedict, NE. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
