Rodney L. Myers

Rodney Lee Myers, age 83 of York, died Monday, August 21, 2006 at Grand Island. He was born November 20, 1922 at Benedict, NE to Lynn and Elsie (Shipferling) Myers. Rodney was a longtime York County farmer and had worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of York, was an Air Force veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion. He married Orletha Gruber on October 28, 1948 at York.

Rodney is survived by his wife Orletha of York; daughter Anita and her husband Alan Mauel of Broken Arrow, OK; grandson Nathaniel Mauel of Broken Arrow; sisters Dorothy Ehlers of York, Martha Morris of Bradshaw and Erma (Ted) Lampe of Loveland, CO; brother William (Phyllis) Myers of Grand Island; sisters-in-law, Florence Myers of Harwood, ND and Verdena Myers of York; special friends Leo & Kathryn Deprez of York and many nieces & nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, daughter and 2 brothers.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 24, 2006 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Tim Marshall officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery at York. Memorials may be directed to the donor’s favorite charity.
