Ellen D. Myers

Ellen D. Myers, age 88 of York, former longtime Benedict resident, died Monday, January 5, 2004 at York. She was born November 12, 1915 at Bruning, NE to Fred and Elsie (Wilhelms) Detmer. Ellen grew up in the Bruning and Benedict areas, graduating from Benedict High School in 1932. On October 19, 1941 she married Robert G. Myers at St. Edward, NE and they lived and farmed the Myers home place near Benedict, retiring to York in 1975. She was a longtime active member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Benedict.

Ellen is survived by her 2 sons; Richard and Joyce Myers of Fremont, NE, Dennis and Linda Myers of Dothan, AL. 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her 2 brothers; Myron (Esther) Detmer of San Antonio, TX and James Detmer of Minden, NE; 2 sisters; Lorna Rathjen of Santa Fe, NM and Corine Korte of Columbus, NE. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son Mark, brother Arnold and great-grandson Andrew Todd Madsen.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9th, 2004 at 10:30 am at the Metz Chapel in York with LeRoy Hoyer. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Benedict. Memorials may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church of Benedict.
