Stanley J. Morner
Stanley J. Morner age 64 of rural Waco, NE., died Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at his home.
He was born February 7, 1940 at York to Ewalt and Edna F. (Uffelman) Morner.
Stanley graduated from the 8th grade at St John’s Lutheran School and 3 yeas later he graduated early from Waco High School in 1957. In 1962 he graduated from Seward College and started his teaching career at Plainview, NE. Over the years he taught at several schools including Bancroft and Deschler in Nebraska. Then in Denver, Co., and in Van Nuys California as well.
On January 9, 1971 he was married to Ruth Douglas at Van Nuys, Ca. She passed away in 1983. While teaching in Sherman Grove, KS., his father passed away so he returned to his family’s farm for a while. Next he went to Breeman, KS for a year before moving back again to help his brother farm. On October 20, 1984 he was married to Donna Rohde at York. Stanley continued farming his family’s homestead until 2003 when he was diagnosed with cancer.
Stanley was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church near Waco where he was formerly chairman and treasurer and taught Bible Class. He enjoyed reading, puzzles and helping with his wife’s daycare children.
He is survived by his wife Donna of Waco, three sons Bill and his wife Elizabeth Morner of Glendale, CA., Bob Morner of Los Angeles, CA., and Brian and his wife Michelle Morner of Milliken, CO.
Three step sons, Gene and his wife Tanya Peters of Estes Park, Co., Jerry Peters of Waverly, NE., and Greg Peters of Overland Park, KS.
12 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild
Also surviving are three brothers, Donald and his wife Charlotte Morner of Tustin, CA., Kenneth and his wife Janet Morner of York and the Reverend Dennis and his wife Jacque of Anchorage, Alaska. One sister Barbara and her husband Don Gannon of Grand Island, NE. A step mother Nora Straube of York.
Two brothers in laws, Dale and Alma Rohde of Fremont and John and Linda Davis of Hebron. Many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Ruth and a nephew Dan Gannon.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Waco with the Reverend Paul T. Kern officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Lutheran Hour Ministries or to the donor’s choice.
