Ruth Moore
Ruth Otto Moore’s 90 years of caring and giving came to an end Wednesday, January 10, 2007 when she passed away of natural causes at the Exeter Care Center. She was born April 16, 1916 in York, NE to Arthur and Lydia Otto. Ruth’s love of animals, especially horses, permeated her life when she wasn’t helping others. After graduation from York High School Ruth was a secretary for a local attorney until she served as clerk of the county court. On September 23, 1939 she married Bob Moore, member of a long time York County pioneer family. She remained at home to care for her family until 1950 when she returned to work as a bookkeeper for the local Dodge dealership. In 1952 her third child, Bill, was born. Again she stayed at the acreage two miles east of York where she and Bob resided for 50 years. In 1956 she returned to work as manager of the Montgomery Ward Catalog Store. Two years later she became a secretary for the Bell and Bell Medical Clinic. After six years of handling insurance claims she became the medical records librarian at York General Hospital.
