June M. Moore
June Marie (Fuss) Moore, age 71, of the rural Benedict area died Tuesday morning, November 22, 2005 at the Hearthstone in York, Nebraska as a result of her struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) for the past 18 months.
She was born on a farm near York, NE on May 21, 1934 to Arnold H. and Louise (Hahle) Fuss. She graduated from York High School in 1952.
June married Dale Keith Moore on August 30, 1953 in York, Nebraska. The couple lived in York for 6 months before moving to the family farm northeast of Benedict where they have farmed together and raised their family since that time. June had a deep and abiding faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, which was evident in the servant’s heart that she displayed throughout her life. She was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York where she was involved with LWML, numerous bible studies and visiting regularly at the Hearthstone. June’s favorite activities included helping Dale and her children with the York County Fair, watching her four grandsons in sports and music, and she enjoyed playing an active role in her son, Scott’s numerous political campaigns. She was also involved in a number of other organizations including, the York PEO chapter, Lazy Susans Extension Club, Happy Hour Club, Pitch and Chatter club, and more recently the ALS support group in Columbus. She was past president and served for 20 years with the York division of the American Heart Association and she also served on the advisory committee for the Wessel’s Living History Farm.
Survivors include: Husband, Dale; Daughter and Son-in-law, Cindy and Lynn Gray of Omaha; Sons and daughters-in-law, Kurt and Diane Moore of Stromsburg, and Scott Moore and Danene Tushar, of Omaha; Grandsons: Bradley, Tyler, Caleb and Isaac Moore of Stromsburg; Mother-in-law, Ruth G. Moore of York; Sisters-in-Law, Norma Lund and husband Bob of Lakeview, Oregon, Judy Reierson and husband Richard of Lexington, Illinois, Barbara Nord and husband LeRoy of Palmer, Alaska; Mary Fuss of Central City; Brother-in-law, Dennis Moore and wife Lise of Hamilton, Montana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Sister, Dorothy (Fuss) Steingard and brother Harold (Bud) Fuss.
A funeral service to celebrate June’s life will be held Saturday, November 26, 2005 at 10:00 am at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church Debt Retirement Fund, the ALS Association, or the American Heart Association. Visitation will be from 7-9 pm Friday evening, November 25 at Metz Mortuary in York. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Gresham, Nebraska.
