John Monnier

John Robert Monnier age 75 of Lebanon, KS formerly of York, NE died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Smith Center, KS. He was born April 26, 1933 at Bradshaw, NE to August and Ella (Lottus) Monnier. John was the owner/operator of the Mobil Station I-80 at York, and was then employed at the York Alfalfa Mill for a while. Next he became the owner/operator of the Monnier Hay Company before being employed for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads. In 1990 he moved to Smith Center, KS and then later to Lebanon, KS. John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his brothers and family. On January 22, 1953 he was married to Delores Heiden at Yankton, S.D.

He is survived by his wife Delores of Lebanon, KS, three sons, Steve Monnier of Lincoln, NE, Rick and his wife Sheila Monnier of Hastings, NE and Randy and his wife Nancy Monnier of Lincoln. His three grandchildren include Darrah Monnier and Dalton Monnier both of Hastings, Ne and Danica Monnier of Lincoln. Also surviving is a sister Mary Trim of Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons Daniel and William, four brothers Lawrence, Leo, Paul and James and an infant sister.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Tim Marshall officiating with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials may be directed to Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York.
