Boyd Miller

Boyd O. Miller, age 83, of York, NE, formerly of McCool Jct., NE, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at York, NE. He was born September 30, 1926 at rural Exeter, NE to Henry and Bertha (Dreier) Miller. Boyd was a graduate of McCool Jct. High School. He worked for the State Department of Roads for more than 30 years. Boyd and Phyllis Gaast were united in marriage on May 26, 1948 at Hastings, NE. Boyd was a member of the First Lutheran Church in McCool Jct. He enjoyed working outdoors and taking care of his garden as well as traveling with his family. He served on the McCool Village Board and the McCool Jct. Fire Department for 50 years. For many of those years on the fire department, he served as fire chief. Boyd also spent many volunteer hours at sporting events for the McCool Jct. Public School.

Survivors include two sons, Dan (Leona) Miller of McCool Jct., and Mike (Robin) Miller of Minot, ND; three daughters, Dixie (Larry) Sanmann of Alamogordo, NM, Patricia Hager of Columbus, OH, and Barbara (William) Horne of Dalzell, SC.

Boyd leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Destiny (Robert) Voeller of Minot, ND, Tina Miller of Minot, Lacey Miller and fiancé Zach Hanson of Omaha, NE, Jamie Miller and fiancé Cory Reinke of Cortland, NE, Kira (Adam) Matzner of Lincoln, NE, Renee (Christopher) Padilla of Dallas, TX, Laurie Sanmann of Dallas, Jennifer (Keith) McCool of Alamogordo, NM, Karry (Jerry) Thacker of Columbus, OH, Machell Hager of Columbus, OH, Robin (Eric) Fajardo of Honolulu, HI, Mark (Debbie) Deonier of Sumter, SC.

Also surviving are 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Schrader of St. Paul, NE and Ruby Morales from WV; two sisters-in-law, Irene Miller of Elbow Lake, MN, and Wilma Miller of Clay Center, NE. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Phyllis, seven brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2010 at the First Lutheran Church, McCool Jct., NE, with the Reverend Barbara Bauer officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, McCool Jct.
