John Miles

E. John Miles, age 83 of York, died Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at York. He was born October 29, 1923 at Montpelier, VT to Henry and Blanche (Williams) Miles. John was veteran of WWII and served in the Special Forces in the Pacific theatre. Most of his life he operated heavy machinery and prior to his retirement he drove a fuel tanker for Northern Natural Gas then Enron. He was married to Evelyn Tappe on October 5, 1983.

John is survived by his wife Evelyn of York; 3 sons, Verien and his wife Judy of Petaluma, CA, Doug and his wife Laurie of York and Ricky and his wife Chris of Laconia, NH; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a special nephew he helped raise, Phil and his wife Pauline Miles of Concord, VT. Preceding him in death were his parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. John has been cremated.
