Florence Meyer

Florence E. Meyer, age 89, of York, NE died Saturday, February 26, 2011, in Omaha Methodist Hospital of complications from pneumonia. She was born on April 22, 1921 at Council Bluffs, IA, to Arnold and Marie (Lund) Ranch. The Meyer family moved to York in 1958 when Mr. Meyer became manager of the J.M. McDonald Co. store here.

Florence is survived by a son, Lloyd (Charlene) Meyer of Omaha: a daughter Joyce (Ron) Hollis of Maricopa, AZ; five grandchildren, Cullen (Emily) Meyer, Brent (Abby) Meyer, Lara (Brian) Pefferly, all of Atlanta, GA, Jason (Alyson) Baer of Bloomington, IN, Jeffrey Baer of Scottsdale, AZ; two great-grandchildren, Annika and Ethan Baer, and her adopted family, John (Jean) Wilcynski and Jim. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Leonard Ranch, and her husband of 35 years, A. Max Meyer.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church in York with the Reverend Mike Eikhoff officiating. Interment followed in York’s Greenwood Cemetery.
