Charlene Meehan

Charlene R. Meehan, age 83 of York, NE, died Friday, October 28, 2011 in Lincoln, NE. She was born to Theodore and Celestina (Romo) Morris, the youngest of three children, on February 16, 1928 in Denver, CO. On August 20, 1951 she was united in marriage to William M. Meehan at St. Vincent’s DePaul Catholic Church in Denver and to this union three sons, William P., James, and Michael, and two daughters, Catherine and Patricia were born.

Charlene worked at Joslins Department Store in Denver as a sales clerk and later when she and her family moved to York, she enjoyed being a full-time mom raising her five children. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in York, the Altar Society of the Church, the Elk’s Club, York Senior Fun Club, Card Club, and was a member of the York Country Club for many years. Charlene spent many hours volunteering and giving care to those in need. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and especially enjoyed the winters spent in Sun City, AZ.

Charlene is survived by three sons, William P. Meehan of York, James Meehan of Aransas Pass, TX, and Michael J. Meehan of York; two daughters: Catherine Ann Meehan-Civarello of Kentfield, CA and Patricia Lauber of Geneva, NE; six grandchildren, James Meehan and Stephan Meehan of Las Vegas, NV, Roxanne Civarello of San Francisco, CA, Bradley M. and his wife Stacey Lauber, Philip W. Lauber, and Dana C. Lauber, all of Geneva, NE; four great grandchildren; and her sister Helen Deal of Dayton, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Bill.

Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday November 7, 2011 at Metz Chapel in York. Private Inurnment was held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, York. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association. No viewing or visitation.
