Martha McGaffin

Martha D. McGaffin age 92 of York, NE died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at York. She was born March 9, 1918 at Bradshaw, NE to Roy and Lehla (Whitfield) Barnes and graduated from Bradshaw High school. In 1937 she was married to Earl Dettrick at Lincoln, NE. Together they farmed until his death in 1957. Martha also owned the York Beauty Salon for many years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in York. In 1963 she married William G. McGaffin at York. She and Bill were members of the York American Legion Drum and Bugle Corp.

She is survived her step-daughter Sherry and her husband Terry Tonniges of Gresham, NE. Two step grandchildren; Chad and his wife Joy Tonniges of Lincoln and Nicole McLaughlin also of Lincoln. Her step great grandchildren include; Braxton Tonniges and Lexi Tonniges and Camryn McLaughlin and Riley McLaughlin all of Lincoln. Also surviving is a sister in law Velma Barnes of York. Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two brothers Kenneth and Don Barnes and sister Margaret Boyle.

Graveside services were at 10:30 am Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Arborville Cemetery south of Polk, NE. Memorials may be directed to the Arborville Cemetery.
