| Kenneth L. Mason
Kenneth L. Mason, age 86, of York, NE, died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at Seward, NE. He was born on February 6, 1922 in rural York to Ernest E. and Lula D. (Macoy) Mason. He was a 1940 graduate of York High School and served in WWII from 1942 –1945. Kenneth was united in marriage to Bernice Richardson of Bradshaw, NE on August 17, 1942 at Phillipsburg, KS. He was a nurseryman, owning and operating Mason Nursery with his family in York for 35 years. He then owned and operated Kenny’s Arborist Service from 1985 until retiring in 2000. He was a member of the First Christian Church in York, VFW #1609, American Legion Bolton Post #19, 361st Infantry Assn. WWII, Nebraska Assn. of Nursery Men and Landscapers, and Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife Bernice of York; daughter Dr. Karla Mason (Terry) Bergen of Henderson, NE; son Kenneth R. Mason of York; grandchildren, Ann (Mark) Foster of Henderson and Michael (Kelsey) Bergen of rural Aurora, NE. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; infant son Terry Lee; infant daughter Linda Lou; brothers, Floyd and Clarence; sisters Mildred Green and Ardith Luth.
A Celebration of life service was held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Metz Chapel in York with Dr. Karla Mason Bergen and Father Ken Borowiak officiating. Burial followed in York’s Greenwood Cemetery.
