Geraldine "Jeri" Mason

Geraldine “Jeri” Mason age 65 of York, NE died Saturday, June 14, 2008 surrounded by family in Lincoln, NE. She was born on October 13, 1942 to Raymond and Ethel (Joy) Heiden in Los Angeles, California. She was baptized into the Christian faith at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Los Angeles on November 11, 1942.

At the age of two she and her parents moved back to Nebraska and lived on a farm north of York. She was confirmed on March 25, 1956 at St. Paul, north of York. Jeri graduated from Benedict High School in 1960. On September 30, 1962 she was united in marriage to James Mason at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. To this union, four children were born: Susan, Kimberly, Shane, and Kolby.

When her children were young she was active in Boy and Girl Scouts, 4-H, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York, where she was a member of the LWML and took part in Bible Study Groups. Jeri held various jobs, but was most proud to obtain her real estate license later in life. She previously worked for Home Real Estate in Lincoln, Ag & Home Realty in York, and currently was affiliated with Woods Brothers in York.

Jeri had a passion for interior design and was fond of flowers. She also loved to cook. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend…and will be sorely missed.

Left in her memory is her husband Jim of York; daughter Susan (Don) Hanson of Lincoln; daughter Kimberly (Lynn) Reetz of Lincoln; son Shane (Colene) Mason of Lincoln; and son Kolby (Bonnie) Mason of York; 14 grandchildren: Kaitlin, Luke, and Madison Hanson of Lincoln; Victoria and fiancé Andrew Brininstool, Jameson, Benjamin, and Julianna Reetz of Lincoln; Taylar, Gabryelle, Laney, and Ella Mason of Lincoln; and Savanah, Elijah, and Ezekiel Mason of York. She is also survived by her brother Larry (Nancy) Heiden of Silver Creek, NE and sister Deb Heiden of Lincoln; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved stepfather Norman B. Fintel, and her grandparents.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverends Mike Neidow and Tim Marshall officiating. Burial followed at St. Paul Cemetery, north of York. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation or to the American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
