Ardith Luth
Ardith Lucille Luth passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2006. She was 81 years old. She had a severe stroke on October 21, 2001 with paralysis of her right side. She diligently worked with therapists from the York General Hospital and Madonna Rehabilitation Center, but her body could not keep up with her determination. The staff at Utica Community Care Center was attentive and loving until her death.
Ardith was born February 4, 1925 in York, Nebraska. She graduated from York High School in 1943. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Ardith married Leon Klundt of Grafton on December 11, 1954. She was a homemaker and farmer’s wife until her daughters graduated. She then worked at the York Reformatory, Standard Brands, York College, Frozen Foods, and Chances R Restaurant. Leon passed away on September 27, 1982.
Ardith married Leroy Luth of Utica on November 10, 1984. They thoroughly enjoyed their retirement. During this time, she became an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Leroy passed away on March 12, 1994.
Ardith is survived by her brother Kenneth Mason and wife Bernice; daughter Sharon Samek and grandson Scott Samek; daughter Donna Smith and husband Hank; grandson Michael Achterhof, great grandson Anthony; granddaughter Laura Achterhof; grandson David Achterhof and wife Jessie; step-daughter Gloria Deremer and husband Jim; grandson Neal Deremer and wife Leslie; great grandchildren Ethan and Evan; grandson Curtis Deremer; step-daughter Diana Cline and husband David; step-daughter Jenny Hoden and husband Mike; grandson Ryan Nelson and wife Brandize; great grandchildren Elijah, Declan, and Ebeni; grandson Craig Nelson and wife Tess; and step-son Corey Luth.
Ardith was preceded in death by her parents Ernest Elmer and Lula Belle (McCoy) Mason; brothers Clarence and Floyd Mason, sister Mildred Green, son-in-law James Samek, and stepson Ragene Luth.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2006, at First Christian Church in York with Pastor Ron Johnson officiating. Burial will be at York’s Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 9:00 p.m. on Friday at Metz Mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family.
